It's Week 8 of high school football. Both 4-0 in district play, Sand Springs hosts Muskogee Friday night, with the winner claiming the inside track to a league title.
We have two great quarterbacks going at it, with Roughers QB Jamarian Ficklin and Sandites QB Easton Webb combining for 42 touchdown passes this year.
You nailed it; it's our Tulsa Tech Game of the Week. The defending state champion Muskogee Roughers has one thing in mind right now: a district title. They are sitting in a four-way tie, with one of those teams being Sand Springs. Both are facing off Friday night to gain an edge in the standings.
On the first possession out of the gate for Muskogee, Jamarian Ficklin fakes the handoff, keeps it himself, and goes 52 yards to the house for a diving touchdown. The score is 6-0 after the failed PAT.
Sand Springs strikes right back from the 2-yard line, with Dominic Forbes keeping the ball to put them up 7-6.
It’s back and forth in the first half, but this extends the Roughers' lead: Ficklin passes up the middle, complete to Jamie Beasley, who makes several defenders miss to score. The score is now 25-7.
P.J. Wallace dives into the end zone to seal the deal. He had four touchdowns on the night. The final score is 49-33, and the Roughers improve to 8-0. P.J. Wallace rushed for 212 yards on 27 carries for four touchdowns. The transfer from Bartlesville has been a great addition to this offense, and the run game should be an emphasis every game.
