In recent years, more and more brides are breaking tradition when it comes to their dresses.

Saying "yes" to the perfect one is a memorable part of wedding planning. Carly Jaggers-Hair said it took her six months and several visits to bridal shops in Tulsa and Broken Arrow.

Her last stop was Facchianos Bridal & Formal Attire.

"I tried on some more white wedding dresses, ivory, Champagne, none of them … I did not feel pretty in them," Jaggers-Hair said.

It was not until her bridesmaid gave Carly a black wedding dress to put on that she loved her reflection.

"It definitely just screamed Carly," she said, "Everybody knows me, I am bold and outspoken, pretty blunt, and so the black just screamed my name."

Facchianos Store Manager Rhonda Pattison said it is a trend that is growing in popularity.

"Really, here it took off in like 2023," she said. "I think we sold seven black dresses."

This year, Carly is one of three Facchianos brides to choose black. A decision that was a surprise to nearly all of her guests.

"Nobody had a clue that it was going to be black, so they were shocked," said Carly. "They loved it though."

All that really mattered, though, is how she felt in it.

"I felt great, it was wonderful," Carly added.

Facchianos has been helping brides feel beautiful on their wedding day for 25 years. Rhonda said keeping up with current trends ensures there is a dress for every woman that walks in the door.

"We want them to have a great experience and feel special on that day, so if that is a black dress, if it is a red dress, if it is a pink dress, like whatever makes you feel good," she said.

A wedding trend that is redefining tradition. "I think that any woman should wear whatever they want to get married," said Carly. "It is their special day."

Rhonda agreed saying, "Brides want to be different and they want something that stands out, is unique, and just makes them feel special. I feel like anymore they do not feel like it has to be a white dress."

Facchianos is located at 4910 W Kenosha St. in Broken Arrow. For more information and hours visit www.facchianos.com
