Changes are coming to the parking situation for voters in Tulsa County looking to vote early at the downtown election board.

Starting Friday, the parking lot at the downtown location will be reserved exclusively for handicapped voters and precinct workers. This change may cause delays, as anyone wishing to vote at this location will need to park off-site and walk to the building.

Recently, there have been long lines for early voting, with people wrapping around both the downtown location and the future Tulsa County Election Board site near I-44 and 11th Street.

"On Friday and Saturday, the limited parking we currently have will be unavailable because our precinct officials from 251 will be picking up supplies for Tuesday's election. They need to park close to the building, along with our handicapped voters," explained Gwen Freeman from the Election Board.

The Tulsa County Election Board reported that 6,867 votes were cast on Thursday alone, bringing the total number of ballots for early voting to over 13,000 so far. Combined with mail-in votes, the number is more than 160,000 so far.

For those choosing to vote early, a green form will be provided while waiting in line. This form must be filled out to cast an absentee ballot, as early voting essentially allows you to vote absentee in person. It will require your information and signature before you can cast your vote.
