The Okmulgee Police Department is currently experiencing disruptions after recent storms and lightning strikes impacted their phones and communication systems.

The department posted on social media on Monday that its main office and business phone lines (918-758-1141) are down; however, residents can still reach Dispatch for non-emergencies at 918-756-3511, or dial 911 in case of emergencies.

Okmulgee Emergency Management reported that the outdoor tornado warning sirens are also affected. Authorities are urging residents to use alternative methods for receiving storm warnings and weather updates until repairs are complete.

The police department and emergency management teams are working to restore these systems and will provide updates as repairs progress.
