The Oklahoma Ethics Commission confirmed to News 9 and News On 6 that it is investigating State Superintendent Ryan Walters and Corporation Commissioner Todd Hiett.

Why is Ryan Walters being investigated?

The Oklahoma Ethics Commission says Walters is under investigation for violating campaign finance rules.

Commissioners voted unanimously to issue subpoenas for Walters' 2022 campaign records and bring them to a judge for enforcement.

The commission says it began the investigation in October after determining there was sufficient reason to believe Walters violated ethics rules.

Why is Todd Hiett being investigated?

The commission says Hiett is being investigated over an alleged conflict of interest.

Three lawmakers asked the State Supreme Court to remove Hiett from his position after he was accused of drunkenly groping a man at a Minnesota conference last June.

The Supreme Court denied their motion, stating the Ethics Commission should decide the matter.
