A woman has died following a house fire that caused significant damage to a home in Spencer on Saturday morning, authorities said.

The fire broke out around 6:30 a.m. near Northeast 28th Street and Spencer Road. Five agencies, including the Oklahoma City Fire Department, responded to the blaze.

Spencer firefighters initially reported one person was transported to the hospital due to injuries from the fire. Authorities later confirmed the woman’s death. Her identity has not been released.

On Monday afternoon, News 9 visited the home and met two individuals who identified themselves as family members of 64-year-old Patti Crain, who they say died on Saturday morning.

Crain’s family declined to speak on camera but said they were at the house to collect her remaining belongings.

The two said they were unsure if their mother had a working smoke alarm.

Her neighbors said "Patti" was friendly and waved often.

Firefighters said the roof collapsed, and one of their hoses was torn during efforts to contain the flames.

Now, investigators are looking into what caused the fire.
