Carpenter Square Theater is continuing its 41st season with the drama The Children, a thought-provoking play inspired by real-life events.
“There are no children in The Children,” said Rick Allen Lippert, Chair of the Board of Directors for Carpenter Square Theater.
“It’s a play about children—how far would you go to save your children from the mistakes you’ve made in the past?”
Set in a seaside cottage in the aftermath of a nuclear disaster, the drama explores weighty questions about responsibility and legacy while blending moments of humor.
“The actors are doing such a good job on it,” Lippert said, adding that audiences can expect a mix of serious drama and lighthearted moments.
The production runs through February 2. Performances include Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. (half-priced tickets), Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m., and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased at CarpenterSquare.com or via the free Carpenter Square Theater mobile app.
“There’s an easy button there to buy tickets,” Lippert said.
Lippert noted that The Children is the “one true drama” in a season filled with comedies and lighthearted plays.
“Drama is just the other side of comedy,” he said, hinting at the engaging mix of emotions audiences can expect.
Carpenter Square Theater has four more productions lined up for its 41st season, promising a dynamic slate of performances.
