An investigation into the owner of Edge Craft Barbecue by the U.S. Department of Labor found that the metro restaurant misused an employee tip tool.

The investigation into Zachary Edge, the owner of the restaurant, began in 2024.

Officials said Edge kept employees' tips and failed to pay overtime. They allege Edge paid workers a flat daily rate regardless of how many hours they worked.

Edge Craft Barbeque was ranked among the top ten Texas-style barbecue restaurants outside of Texas by Texas Monthly last year.

Michael Speer, District Director of the Wage and Hour Division, said the department is “determined to ensure workers receive all of their hard-earned wages” and ready to assist employers in understanding their responsibilities under the law.

Now, 13 employees will receive $66,000 in back wages and overtime.
