In this week's Therapy Thursday, Kyann Mitchner from Sunbeam Family Services joined to discuss setting personal health goals.
Mitchner says health goals are not resolutions and may extend beyond 2025. When these goals are too large, it makes it harder to achieve them. This is why she says it's good to set smaller goals.
"The first thing you want to do is come up with a list of all the things you want to do...and narrow those down" said Mitchner "Some of them overlap, right?"
She also says that you should separate personal goals from mental health goals. Mental health goals could look like gaining more coping skills or making sure you have the resources to handle traumatic events.
Mitchner says it's easier to measure your goals when you make them specific.
