The Oklahoma City Zoo is kicking off February with the opening of a new photography exhibit and a unique brick display, as well as special discounts for first responders and healthcare workers.
Candice Rennels, a representative from the zoo, shared details about the exciting new additions and opportunities for visitors.
"I'm very excited to share that today we are opening a new exhibit at our zoo, which is the zoo's on-site Historical Museum," said Rennels. "This is a really cool exhibit, one that's close to my heart. It's called OKC Zoo Photo Crew, Best of 24, and it is a wonderful grouping of photographs that are taken by our volunteer photographers at the zoo, the OKC Zoo Photo Crew members."
Rennels explained that the exhibit features over 37 photos taken at the Oklahoma City Zoo last year by talented photographers who volunteer their time and passion to capture the animals and scenery.
In addition to the photography exhibit, Rennels shared that the zoo is also showcasing a unique "Brick Topia" display.
"We have a team member at the zoo who's very talented brick builder, and he did an entire replica of a zoo. It was inspired by the Oklahoma City Zoo. It has interactive lights. It is so phenomenal, and that will be on display as well in the zoo," Rennels said.
Rennels explained that the zoo is offering a special discount for first responders and healthcare workers throughout the month of February.
"Every February, we love to honor, and truly, we want to give thanks to all first responders and healthcare workers that keep us safe every day of the year. So February, 1-14, they can come and receive free admission at the Oklahoma City Zoo. So if you are an emergency responder, first responder, or healthcare worker, please just bring a valid ID, and you will get in for free, but you will also receive a half-off discount for up to four guests," Rennels said.
