A home invasion in northwest Oklahoma City leaves a homeowner shot overnight.

Police said it happened around 2 a.m. near NW 178th and Western.

OCPD officers said the suspect kicked down the door, went upstairs and was confronted by the homeowners.

When officers arrived, they found the homeowner, a woman, shot in the chest.

"We were just in the room, we had a late night for work, and we got home late at night, and we didn't really hear anything, so it's kind of crazy that all happened," said Trent Bell, a neighbor. "It's a quiet neighborhood. You can tell it's a really nice neighborhood. The neighbors are cool. So, it's kind of crazy that this stuff is even happening."

Right now, police do not have a suspect in custody, and there’s no description of the suspect available.

The homeowner was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
