Norman police have identified two men in connection to a reported assault on Campus Corner near the University of Oklahoma a little over a week ago.
While details from police remain limited, some students shared their thoughts on the incident.
“You know, if you do something here that you’re not supposed to, more than likely you’re going to get caught,” said student Brandon Vadiver.
On Thursday, it was class as usual for many Oklahoma University students.
For some, getting word that an assault happened on Campus Corner is unnerving.
“People on this campus like to go have fun, like to be with their friends, especially on the weekends, so having security just walking up and down the street just to make sure everybody feels safe,” said student Emily Williams.
Students say the campus is known to be a safe space for everyone.
Williams said the school usually sends alerts by phone when something happens but adds the fact police are looking for two people is really concerning.
She believes some people may target younger individuals who are out socializing and not always paying attention.
“It’s like maybe they’re inebriated or less aware because they’re with their friends or they think it’s campus, so they feel safe, and so it’s easier to prey upon those people,” Williams said.
Other students feel such crimes are senseless.
“I feel like they’re looking for some kind of attention or whatnot. Either that or they’re just bored and looking for trouble,” said student Djimon Hill.
Authorities have not yet released further details of what happened or those involved.
