Darci Lynne kicks off ‘Up Close and Personal’ tour in Oklahoma City

Oklahoma’s own Darci Lynne is set to launch her new Up Close and Personal comedy club tour next Thursday at Bricktown Comedy Club, marking her return to the stage after a two-year hiatus.

"I'm really excited to be kicking off this new tour," Lynne said. "We've worked really hard on it, and especially to be kicking it off in my home state, too."

The 20-year-old ventriloquist, who rose to fame after winning America’s Got Talent nearly eight years ago, said the new show will offer a fresh look at her journey.

"It's just a lot of things have changed since I won AGT," she explained. "I mean, I've hit some milestones, I've grown up a little bit. And it's just going to be still a very family-friendly, bring your whole family show and just kind of a catch-up of where I am now at 20 years old."

Lynne recently expanded into acting, appearing in the Reagan film.

"Oh, man, it was awesome," she said. "That was such a cool day. I've only done two movies—only, I mean, goodness, two movies is awesome. But it was really cool because it's a period piece, and so everyone was dressed like the 1930s. It was awesome."

She has also been pursuing music, releasing three original songs last year.

"This is Takes a Melody," Lynne said as a clip played. "It's a song that is kind of about music taking you back to a moment or a person in time, and you can't help it. You hear a song, and it just kind of transports you back to a memory."

She will be performing those songs live in Muskogee at the Civic Center as part of a new band project.

"I'm pumped," Lynne said. "This is the first show. I'm excited, I'm a little nervous, but it's going to be fun because it's all new—new stuff and even a new puppet, too."

While Lynne continues to evolve as an entertainer, she remains committed to staying true to herself.

"I've always told people that I don't want to be limited or put in a box," she said. "I kind of just want to do it all."
