Oklahoma City Police arrested one person after a deadly stabbing on Sunday on the northwest side of the city. Police said 38-year-old Joshua Stewart died from the injury after being transported to a local hospital.

Officers detained 39-year-old Latoya Hollis at the scene. Hollis was taken to downtown Oklahoma City police headquarters for questioning and later arrested on one charge of obstruction. Police said Hollis refused to come out of her apartment when officers showed up at the scene.

An apartment complex near northwest 23rd Street and Pennsylvania Avenue turned into a crime scene Sunday night.

“When officers arrived, they found one person there suffering from being stabbed,” said Msgt. Gary Knight.

A neighbor who did not want to be identified heard Stewart yelling for help.

"Help me, help me, call the police, call the police, asking for help,” said the witness. “Something bad happened.”

Officers found Stewart bleeding on the second floor of the complex.

“It appears he was stabbed inside an apartment and made his way outside the door where he collapsed,” said Knight.

Residents watched from their front doors and windows as police called for Hollis to come out of her apartment.

“Officers had reason to believe there was still someone inside the apartment they would not open their door,” said Knight. “So, officers obtained a warrant and made entry.”

The unnamed neighbor said she heard police calling for Hollis to come out.

“They opened the door, kicked the door in and there was a lady in there,” said the witness.

Investigators remained at the scene Monday afternoon.

“Since 10:00 p.m., 10:30 last night,” said witness. “Until now, so 12 hours still here.”

Police have not released the motive behind the stabbing or how the woman and the victim knew each other.

“It’s unclear exactly what happened, what led up to the man being stabbed,” said Knight.

Police said Hollis could face additional charges including murder for the victim’s death. That decision will be up to the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office.

Police responded to the same apartment two months ago for a noise disturbance call, however, no arrests or reports were made.
