The Myriad Botanical Gardens are hosting Sham-Rock the Gardens from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, featuring Irish-themed music, dancing, food trucks, and more family-friendly activities.
The waters around the Myriad Gardens will be dyed green during the festivities, which is a longstanding tradition for the yearly event. The dyeing process will be done using a safe, vegetable-based dye so that wildlife such as ducks remain unharmed.
"It's like our introduction to spring," Vice President of Programming for the Myriad Botanical Gardens Eric Himan said. "It's the way that we crawl out of our winter vibes, and then we crawl right into our spring vibes."
The event features live performances from Irish bands, including Flowers of Edinburgh and Ravens 3. Live dancing will also be present, with the McTeggart Irish Dancers of Oklahoma set to perform.
Traditional staples like Scottish pipes and drums will also accompany the face painting, scavenger hunts, and the breweries at the event.
"My message is to be hungry and ready to hear a lot of great Irish-themed music," Himan said.
Himan also notes that further events at the gardens are planned, including the upcoming Tulip Festival on the weekend of March 29 that will feature over 30,000 tulips, as well as multiple vendors and food trucks.
