The wildfire burned around 7000 acres on Friday, destroying more than a dozen homes in the Luther area. The community is coming together to help those who have lost their homes and belongings.
The Luther Community Service Center is accepting donations for fire victims.
This center is already a hub for those in need providing clothing and food to the community. Since the fires began, they’ve opened their doors all week.

Fire victims can come and pick up not only clothing and shoes, but they also have food boxes ready to go. These boxes are packed with nonperishable food items, plates and utensils, diapers and even baby formula. They also have buckets of cleaning supplies for those who need them.
“You see on one side, the devastation the people having struggles. Then on the other side, you see people out there trying to help and take the load off and share this burden,” said Chris Hill, Minister of the Luther Church of Christ. “We're so grateful to have those people wanting to help make life better for those people who have suffered so much in such a short time.”
The center is requesting donations such as nonperishable food items, diapers and clothing--especially for children. Donations may be brought to the center across the street from the Luther VFD. Fire victims can also call ahead to make appointments to get what they need.
