On today's Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch, the Ronald McDonald House Charities Oklahoma City are sharing more about a new house being built in northwest Oklahoma City.
The foundation helps families struggling with children receiving medical care by giving them a home where they can stay while their kids are being treated. Volunteers help cook meals and events are planned by the organization for the family-in-need.
Susan Adams, President and CEO of the Ronald McDonald House Charities OKC branch, stated that the goal is to provide a healing environment for families facing stress and worry.
"We remove barriers to accessing health care. We strengthen the families," Adams said. "The families can stay together at our Ronald McDonald House so they can focus on the well-being of their family and prioritize their child's health care."
Adams also described their capital campaign called 'Opening Doors, Finding Hope' that has almost reached it's financial goal.
"We've raised $13 million of the $17 million we need," Adams said. "So we have received a $2 million challenge grant from the Mabee Foundation to help close the campaign. If we raise $2 million by the end of December, the Mabee Foundation will award us another $2 million, essentially doubling the impact of people's donations."
The organization is planning a Groundbreaking ceremony, celebrating the future house that will be built in Northwest OKC.
