A historic chapel in Downtown Oklahoma City has been rededicated on Thursday to mark the 30th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing.
Located at the corner of Northwest 5th Street and North Robinson Avenue, Heartland Chapel was the first structure constructed and opened downtown following the 1995 bombing.
Multiple religious leaders from across the state spoke about how the Heartland Chapel is a beacon of light in the city.
Originally built as a symbol of peace and unity, the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum says the Heartland Chapel was the result of an interfaith collaboration between First Church OKC, the Jewish Federation, the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City and the Islamic Community of America.
A rededication ceremony took place at 2:45 p.m. to remember those who were killed, those who survived and those changed forever.
The chapel has recently undergone refurbishment in preparation for the rededication and to commemorate 30 years since the bombing.
