Thousands gather in Stillwater for 'The Boys from Oklahoma' concert

Oklahoma's sold-out 'Boys for Oklahoma' concert series kicks off in Stillwater, attracting hundreds of thousands. Live reports from Boone Pickens Stadium

The sold-out "Boys from Oklahoma" concert is underway in Stillwater.

Hundreds of thousands of fans are expected to visit Boone Pickens Stadium across the four-day event.

The concert series was originally planned for two days, but after both days sold out, two more shows were added.

Thursday's show starts at 5:30 p.m. with doors opening at 4 p.m., and the Friday through Sunday shows will start at 5 p.m. with doors opening at 3:30 p.m.

News 9's Elizabeth Fitz is in Stillwater to capture the excitement leading up to the event.

Who is playing?

Cross Canadian Ragweed and the Turnpike Troubadours will co-headline the event. Other performers include:

  1. Stoney LaRue
  2. Jason Boland & The Stragglers
  3. The Great Divide (Thurs, Sat, Sun)
  4. The Mike McClure Band (Fri)

Many fans are excited to hear Cross Canadian Ragweed, who is playing for the first time since they got back together.

"I'm super excited cause there's not a lot of bands out there that are red dirt anymore, and so I love this kind of stuff, I think that's why the turnout is how it is," said one fan.
