OKC playoff hype: Thunder emcee talks fan tour, watch parties, what's next

As the Oklahoma City Thunder prepare for their first playoff game this Sunday, the team’s energy is spilling far beyond Paycom Center. OKC Thunder Emcee Malcolm Tubbs joined News 9 to break down how fans across the state can get in on the excitement through Thunder's fan-focused experiences.

Q: What makes this year's playoff run feel different?

Tubbs: "We're just grateful for the opportunity to have guys who are going to be hustling on the court and then match with the energy of the fans and the stands who are giving them reasons to ball out. So the louder we yell, usually the better they ball, and it's just a great time."

Q: What is the Thunder Up Tour, and where is it going?

Tubbs: "So not just in the arena, the fandom is building all around the state. And of course, with this Thunder Up tour happening, it's going to be crazy. So we're coming to a city near you. You don't have to drive to Oklahoma City. We're going to bring that tour to you."

Q: What can fans expect at a Thunder Up Tour stop?

Tubbs: "It's like a Thunder pop-up extravaganza. So there's going to be live music. There are going to be DJs, some of our Thunder entertainers, and our favorite crazy bison, Rumble, will be there as well. And then opportunities to win some Thunder swag. So, Colby, I don't know how good you are at basketball. Lacey, I know you got a shot. If you can make a shot. You can win a shirt and just give fans a reason to get even more excited about the playoffs if they weren't already before."

Q: Are there ticket giveaways or other prizes?

Tubbs: "There will be opportunities at Thunder Up in the Park, and you can find all details on how to get in on those experiences. You just got to go online, nba.com/thunder/playoffscentral."

Q: Will fans be able to gather for away games too?

Tubbs: "Yeah, so there's watch parties all over. There's our Thunderbar Network where there are tons of different bars and restaurants and, you know, places with a lot of TVs and screens for you to not miss a minute of the action. And we're going to be showing up there, too. So, again, multiple places, multiple locations. I don't have those off the top of my mind, but, again, Thunder, or OKCThunder.com, Playoffs Central. We'll give you all the details, all the info."
