Tinker Air Force Base held a ceremony Monday honoring two airmen who lost their lives in the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building.

Airman First Class Cartney J. McRaven and Airman First Class LaKesha Richardson-Levy were among the 168 victims killed on April 19, 1995, in the deadliest act of domestic terrorism in U.S. history.

"Airman Levy and Airman McRaven are the two airmen we lost, and so we honor them every day—and we will continue to honor them," Colonel Abby Ruscetta, Tinker Base Commander said. “The big thing is just to remember, right? 1995 changed our lives.”

The ceremony not only commemorated the lives of the fallen but also recognized the heroic efforts of more than 1,000 Tinker airmen who rushed into action in the hours and days following the blast, helping search for survivors in the rubble of the federal building.

Tinker’s role in the response is considered a vital part of the Oklahoma City community’s legacy of resilience and unity in the face of tragedy.

As the 30th anniversary of the bombing approaches this Saturday, the base joins others across the state and nation in honoring the victims, survivors, and first responders whose lives were forever changed that day.
