Description
Tired of struggling with stubborn eggshells? This quick and easy hack shows you how to peel boiled eggs with almost no effort. By cracking the bottom of the eggs before boiling and giving them a good shake in a water-filled container afterward, the shells practically fall off. Perfect for deviled eggs, Easter prep, or everyday snacking. This method saves time and frustration in the kitchen!
Ingredients
- Raw eggs (cold from fridge or store)
- Pot (to boil eggs)
- Plastic container with lid (or mason jar)
- Bowl
Instructions
- Prepare the Water: Fill a pot with warm water from the tap. Set it on the stove and turn on the heat.
- Lightly Crack the Eggs: Use cold eggs (straight from the fridge or store). Identify the bottom of the egg (the wider end). Gently tap the bottom of each egg on a hard surface — enough to crack the shell but don’t break through the inner membrane. Avoid cracking the top of the egg, as it may cause leakage during boiling.
- Boil the Eggs: Carefully place each cracked egg into the pot of warm water. Bring the water to a boil. Boil the eggs for 8 to 9 minutes.
- Prepare to Peel: After boiling, remove the eggs from the water. Fill a plastic container or mason jar with a few inches of water. While the eggs are still warm, place one or two eggs into the container.
- Shake to Peel: Secure the lid on the container. Shake vigorously for a few seconds — not too long, or you may break the eggs. The agitation will cause the shell to loosen and separate from the egg.
- Remove and Rinse: Open the container and remove the eggs. Gently peel off any remaining shell — it should come off easily. Rinse if needed, and place the peeled eggs into a bowl.
