A convicted felon is now facing new charges in connection with a shooting at a metro apartment complex.
Police reports show Eric Duke and his mom were driving around, looking for his stolen car. Reports say they found the car in the parking lot of an apartment complex near Southwest 29th and Portland earlier this month.
Detectives say Duke got out of the car and started asking around for Antonio Copeland. Copeland eventually came out of his apartment, and the two got into a fight. Duke was asking Copeland to return his car keys. During the fight, Duke shot Copeland in the stomach. Duke then walks back to his mom’s car, and they drive away.
Police say Duke returned to the complex a little while later and drove away in another car.
Oklahoma County District Attorney Vicki Behenna has now charged Duke with assault and battery with a deadly weapon and felon in possession of a firearm. Duke’s bond has been set at $1 million.
The Department of Corrections says Duke has previous convictions, including distribution of CDS and domestic abuse.
Police say the victim was taken to the hospital and had emergency surgery. At last check, he was stable.
