The Rose State Board of Regents has named Travis Hurst as the college's eighth president.

Hurst has spent the last 12 years of his career at Rose State College.

He currently serves as the Vice President for Academic Affairs, leading the college’s largest division, which includes five academic divisions, more than 350 faculty and staff and over half of the college’s operating budget

Hurst was first hired in 2013 as the college's Academic Technology Coordinator, and has also served as the Dean of eLearning and Academic Outreach and Associate Vice President.

He has taken part in launching several academic programs at the college, including:

  1. Oklahoma’s first associate degree in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
  2. A new Data Science and Analytics pathway
  3. The state’s first community college Bachelor of Applied Technology degree in Cybersecurity

Hurst will take over the position from Dr. Jeanie Webb, who announced her retirement in December after 12 years of service.

In a statement, Webb says, "Travis is a visionary leader who understands the heart of Rose State, our students, our mission, and our community."

Hurst's first day will be July 1.
