The Osage County Sheriff’s Office says the second suspect in a shooting at the Osage Casino Hotel earlier this month is now in custody, after two people were seriously injured during a fight inside the hotel.

What happened at the Osage Casino Hotel?

A fight and shooting broke out early Saturday morning, April 12, inside the hotel hallway of the Osage Casino.

“It was a normal night at the Tulsa casino, and what we believe is two parties intercepted each other that may have had a past run-in,” Sheriff Bart Perrier said.

One victim was assaulted, and another was accidentally shot during the chaos.

Who is in custody?

Malik Nakai Sampson was arrested in Tulsa on Monday night. He’s being held at the Osage County Jail and faces serious charges:

  1. Shooting with intent to kill
  2. Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon

Who is the second suspect?

Authorities have issued a warrant for Marquaveon Da'Shawn Goff, 18, of Tulsa. He’s charged with shooting with intent to kill. He was arrested on April 24 after voluntarily surrendering himself to authorities.

“The security footage is extremely high quality… this entire event has played out through the security cameras. So we get a lot of evidence,” Sheriff Bart Perrier said.

How important was the surveillance footage?

Crucial. The Osage Casino’s security system captured the entire event, which gave investigators a clear timeline and visual evidence of what happened.

Were dogs involved?

There’s been some confusion on social media. Here's the truth:

  1. A person with service dogs helped assist victims.
  2. The suspects did not harm or shoot any dogs, according to Sheriff Perrier.

If you have any information that could help in this case, contact the Osage County Sheriff’s Office.
