Oklahoma City Police arrest a young metro father after his 3-month-old child is brought to an Oklahoma City hospital with critical injuries Thursday.

Kentrell Thomas, 21, was brought to the Oklahoma County Jail early Friday morning after being questioned by police for hours.

Now his baby continues to fight for her life, while police continue their investigation.

Thomas is currently being held on one count of child neglect. And he's been to the jail before, accused of abusing the baby's mother.

According to a police report dated May 6, 2016, Thomas was arrested for domestic assault and battery.  It states he told police his "ex-girlfriend" came by his house to "pick up some money" and they got into a fight.

But the report states when she called 911, she told officers Thomas got violent, grabbed her head and then slammed it into the steering wheel.

She said their 1-year-old child was in the car when it occurred, and she was 7-months pregnant with their second child. But she refused to press charges.

Now four months later, their 3-month-old daughter is in the hospital with critical injuries.

News 9 went to Thomas’ Northwest Oklahoma City home and spoke with his family who did not even know he had been arrested. They said they can't believe he stands accused of something like this. They said he loved both his young children and was never abusive to them.

But Oklahoma City Police said Thursday, the mother brought their baby girl to St. Anthony's Healthplex at Western and Memorial, and she was then rushed to St. Francis Children's Hospital in Tulsa where she remains.

The mother told officers the baby "rolled off the bed" about a week ago, but doctors say that this was "not consistent with the baby's injuries".

She also told them Thomas was with the baby on Thursday morning when the baby "started to have seizures and showed some swelling on her forehead".

But the police report states instead of going straight to the hospital, she waited for nearly four hours.

Right now, police do not know if anyone else will be jailed in this case.
