Oklahoma's U.S. Senator James Lankford is now part of the push to change the face of our money. Lankford wants to replace Andrew Jackson with a woman.
Much of the focus has been on the $10 bill. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew recently announced a woman will replace Alexander Hamilton by 2020. But now instead of the $10, Senator Lankford wants the $20 bill changed.
Lankford wrote a resolution to replace President Andrew Jackson on the bill. The reason, Jackson's "inhumane policies" toward Native Americans.
Lankford wrote in a release on his website, “Jackson's American Indian removal policies led to the forced relocation of millions, and the death of thousands," which is known as the Trail of Tears.
Senator Lankford also serves on the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs.
Lankford is not alone in his new efforts. An organization called "Women on 20s" held an online poll to vote for a woman to replace Jackson. After collecting 600,000 votes, Harriet Tubman beat out Eleanor Roosevelt.
