Oklahoma State fell 48-14 to No. 9 Kansas State on Saturday. OSU fell to 5-4 and 3-3 in the Big 12. KSU improved to 7-1 and 5-0 in the league.
What went wrong:
For the third straight game, just about everything. The Cowboys were outgained 422 to and lost the turnover battle 3-1. OSU couldn't pass it or stop the pass. Daxx Garman completed just 12 of 23 passes and threw two picks while KSU receivers Curry Sexton and Tyler Lockett combined for 15 catches and 253 yards.
What it means:
OSU's season is slip-sliding away. The Pokes have lost three straight in blowout fashion and still have trips to Baylor and OU remaining. Barring a miracle, OSU will likely have to beat Texas in Stillwater in two weeks to qualify for a bowl game.
OSU game ball:
Tyreek Hill continues to impress. Hill recorded 136 yards of offense and scored the Pokes' lone offensive touchdown. If there's one positive to take from this game, it's that OSU appears to be finding more and more opportunities to use Hill's unique speed.
What's next:
OSU will get a much-needed bye before hosting Texas in a must-win game in two weeks. The Cowboys can sit back, heal up, and scout the Longhorns, who face West Virginia next Saturday. OSU is still one win away from bowl eligibility.
