A special groundbreaking was held Friday morning in hopes of keeping more Oklahomans safe while on the job.
The Oklahoma Safety Council announced that construction will soon begin on a new facility in the metro.
It will house the non-profit organization, and will allow them to continue to training more than 700 businesses throughout the state, keeping employees safe while on the job.
"You have to have someone helping employers stay safe and they just can't keep up with it themselves, not just regulations, but all the types of equipment being used now, it takes someone to really help," said Dave Koeneke, Executive Director of the OSC. "We want them to go home as safe as they left for work."
The Oklahoma Safety Council also has a building in Tulsa. The new facility is expected to open in May.
