Charlton Jones of Oklahoma City University became a CoSIDA college-division academic all-district 7 selection.
The College Sports Information Directors of America choose the academic all-American team based on the athletes' GPAs and success in competition. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale at his/her current institution.
The CoSIDA academic all-district choices become eligible for consideration for academic all-American.
Jones, a senior from Katy, Texas, has attained a 3.50 cumulative grade point average pursuing a criminal justice degree at OCU.
This season, Jones has posted 13.8 points and 1.43 steals a game while leading the team in rebounding (5.4 per game) and assists (6.0 a game). He leads the Sooner Athletic Conference while ranking and ninth in NAIA Division I in assist average and eighth nationally with a 2.72 assist-to-turnover.
Jones became an honorable-mention all-SAC performer while averaging 13.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.63 steals a game as a junior.
The Stars (12-9, 5-8 SAC) faces St. Gregory's at 5 p.m. Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena in OCU's final home game of the season.
