News 9 has learned the names of a man and his baby girl who were killed early Wednesday morning in a house fire on Norman's southeast side.
The fire was reported around 3:30 a.m. at a house in the 2600 block of Richardson Drive. When firefighters arrived just a few minutes later, they found the garage fully engulfed in flames, and heavy smoke throughout the house.
Firefighters say when they searched the home, they found a 3-year-old girl in the living room. She was rushed to Norman Regional Hospital, where she died. A short time later, crews located the toddler's father in the garage. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The child's mother tells News 9 the little girl was Amber Finley. Her father, the woman's estranged husband, was 24-year-old Corey Finley.
A neighbor tells News 9 the victims lived in the home that belongs to the man's parents. They were reportedly out of town for work when this happened.
It took firefighters more than 40 minutes to contain the fire. They spent several more hours at the scene putting out hot spots. It's not known yet how the fire started. The Norman Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.
An account has been set up for the Finley family for Chase bank branches in Oklahoma and Texas. If you are interested in donating, the account number is 172181280.
