Something is missing at Boston Avenue Methodist Church.
Over the past couple of weeks, most of the church’s pipe organ has been disassembled and moved.
As you look around the sanctuary of the church, it’s obvious there are some missing pieces.
“The organ was really in great disrepair,” said organist Susan Panciera. “It hadn’t really been thoroughly dealt with in 50 years.”
Panciera has been the organist at Boston Avenue since 2002. She says she loves that old organ, but it was time to get it fixed.
“I have been having to work around various problems for a long, long time,” she said.
Every available space in the church has been stuffed full of boxes of organ pipes and parts during the disassembly. However, the process left a lot of new empty spaces around the sanctuary that usually contain the pipes.
There is no firm date for the organ’s return.
The church says, hopefully, it’ll be home by the end of next year.
