A judge moved the trial for former Tulsa County Reserve Deputy Bob Bates from February to April.
Bates was scheduled to go on trial February 8, 2016 in the shooting death of Eric Harris during an undercover gun sting. During a hearing on Wednesday, Judge William Musseman set a new date of April 18, 2016.
Instead of the trial, the judge will hold an Allen or discovery hearing on February 8. The name "Allen Hearing" is from an Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals case called Allen v. State. At that hearing the judge will ensure that each side has followed the rules for sharing evidence.
