A Tulsa Police K9 unit was involved in an accident around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of North Lewis, near Tecumseh Street.

The officer, identified as Clint Jordan was responding to a scene about a mile away when a woman in a green SUV turned into the patrol vehicle which did have its lights and siren engage, according to TPD.

The police SUV spun and took out a utility pole. Part of the pole crashed down on the TPD unit, breaking the glass out of the vehicle.

The officer was taken to the hospital to be checked out, but he appears to be OK. A witness said the K9 jumped from the SUV after the crash, but the officer was able to catch the dog.

Officers say the dog was taken to a vet to be checked out and both the dog and the officer are doing fine. The woman in the green SUV was uninjured.
