Oklahoma's Drought Is Almost Over

Thanks to record rainfall this month across the state, the latest Oklahoma drought map looks dramatically different when compared to May 2014.

Thanks to record rainfall this month, the latest Oklahoma drought map looks dramatically different when compared to May 2014.

At the end of May 2014, U.S, Drought Monitor data showed most of the state in the extreme to exceptional drought categories. 

Fast forward to this week and the latest map shows 77 percent of Oklahoma free of drought..

The data released May 28 shows only 22 percent of the state, an area in north central Oklahoma and the Panhandle, in the abnormally dry category and less than 3 percent in the moderate drought category.
