Strong storms blew through Green Country late Tuesday and early Wednesday, leaving thousands of customers without power.

Winds hit speeds above 70 mph as the storms blew through around 11:30 p.m.

The heavy winds and lightning left more than 100,000 customers without power in Tulsa, Wagoner, Rogers, Mayes and Osage counties, according to Public Service Company of Oklahoma.

OG&E reports more than 5,000 customers without electricity in the communities of Bixby, Glenpool, Muskogee and Sapulpa.

PSO says because of storm damage to its large transmission lines, it may be several days before all service is restored.

News On 6 Meteorologist Mike Grogan reported a lot of damage to trees and power lines from downtown Tulsa to 31st and Yale in midtown. He said it looked like the majority of midtown was without power and many limbs were down.

One large power pole was left at a near 45-degree angle over 11th Street, right in front of the TU stadium. It knocked out power to the University of Tulsa campus.

Police and EMSA are urging people in Tulsa to be cautious on city streets and highways, as debris, downed power lines and non-functioning stoplights make it very dangerous to drive.
