Tulsa Police Officer Jaime Kirby is Oklahoma Women in Law Enforcement's Outstanding Commissioned Women Officer of the year for 2012.
Officer Kirby was presented the award at a luncheon Thursday in Catoosa.
Kirby has been with the Tulsa Police Department 4 ½ years and is currently assigned to the Gilcrease Division.
She was nominated for this award by her supervisor.
"Officer Kirby is a shining example of the highest qualities we seek in our law enforcement professionals." Her supervisor further stated, "Officer Kirby's stellar dedication and passion paint a picture of a law enforcement officer who is selfless, brave, committed to her community, and focused on our mission to protect life and property and serve those around us."
Last year, Kirby was awarded a letter of commendation for her role in capturing a bank robber. Kirby recognized the suspect and vehicle description from previous contact with a woman in her beat. She went to the woman's house and located the alleged robber.
