(San Francisco-AP) -- San Francisco Giants slugger Barry Bonds was not in Saturday's starting lineup against the St. Louis Cardinals. The left fielder is nursing a right wrist injury suffered in Thursday night's 3-to-2 victory.
Bonds bruised the wrist when he made a leaping catch to rob Albert Pujols of a homer. Bonds stayed in the game before undergoing X-rays, which were negative.
Bonds still leads the majors with 39 home runs and is on pace to break the single-season record of 70 set by Mark McGwire in 1999. But Bonds hasn't hit a home run since last Saturday in St. Louis.
