Cox Business Convention Center Renovations Almost Finished

Renovations at the Cox Business Convention Center in downtown Tulsa are almost finished.

Convention center leaders say they’re less than 20 days away from finishing up and being ready to host events, after a large part of the convention center has been under construction for nearly two years. New elements also include a larger gallery, a renovated ballroom in the arena space, and a new kitchen and escalator. There is also a three story atrium that allows for a lot of natural light. 

Assistant General Manager Angie Teel says the construction crew is putting the finishing touches on the space right now.  "They’re putting down the last bit of carpet; they’re wrapping the columns over here with the beautiful steel structure. Just kind of going through and making those final tweaks to open the doors,” said Teel.

Teel also noted the importance of the renovations in creating an inviting space for events. "If you invite people into your home, you want to make them as comfortable as possible and as easy as possible. This is our home and that's really what we're trying to do."

Teel says the first event is scheduled for early August.
