Some students at Bixby Public Schools will be going back to class for in-person learning on Monday.
The school year will start off with a blend of in-person and distance learning as Bixby is only allowing half the capacity for students in the district to start the year. Students with the last name beginning with A-K will return Monday.
Those students will be in class for the first four days of this week but on Friday will take part in distanced learning. Students in the district with the last name L-Z will receive another week of summer break before returning to in-person learning next week on August 24. Those students will follow the same schedule of attending class for the first four days then taking part in distanced learning next Friday. The A-Z students will have next week off. Students enrolled in the virtual option will start the school year off next week.
The district is planning for all students to practice distanced learning from August 31 to September 3. BPS will make a permanent decision before Labor Day on whether to bring students back full time.
The school is asking parents to monitor their child's health and err on the side of caution if they seem sick before sending them to class.
