Latimer County Couple Accused Of Murder-For-Hire Plot

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation arrested a woman and her husband in connection with a murder-for-hire plot.

Courtney Deatherage and her husband Dustin Deatherage, both face solicitation of murder charges. Investigators say Courtney reached out to a family friend in Texas and asked if that individual would kill her ex-husband and they agreed on a $500 fee.

On Friday, January 22, the family friend traveled from Texas to meet with the couple. Investigators say Courtney gave the individual a loaded twelve-gauge shotgun, that they "picked up" from Dustin’s grandfather’s home. Law enforcement made a traffic stop, at which point Courtney was arrested.

OSBI says Courtney was taken to the Latimer County Jail on a $100,000 bond and has since bonded out. Dustin Deatherage was arrested Saturday and taken to the Latimer County jail. His bond has also been set at $100,000 bond.
