Stillwater Police arrested a man accused of shipping DMT to the post office and then having an additional 53 pounds of the drug in his home.
Police said the Special Projects Unit was made aware of an incoming package that tested positive for the Schedule I hallucinogenic drug. DMT is considered a dangerous substance.
Authorities said Kou Yang was arrested at the shipping office on Sept. 19. He was taken to the Stillwater jail.
Detectives served a warrant at Yang's home with Homeland Security Investigators and seized 53 pounds of DMT. In total, there were 75 pounds of the drug in his possession, authorities say.
Investigators learned that Yang's work visa had expired and he is currently on a 10-year probation for a drug trafficking arrest in Payne County in 2022.
“The arrest of a previously convicted drug trafficker in this case represents a cooperative effort between Stillwater Police Department’s Special Projects Unit, Homeland Security, and other regional law enforcement partners. I’m proud of our detectives in this case and many others. They work tirelessly to combat the proliferation of dangerous drugs such as DMT, fentanyl, and methamphetamine in our community,” Lt. Cody Manuel, Criminal Investigations Lieutenant, said.
