The dangerously cold temperatures persist across northeast Oklahoma as more bands of snow sweep across the area.
Visibility on the roads has dropped as the second band of snow moves across northeast Oklahoma and temperatures remain in the single digits. The heaviest snow is expected to continue overnight into Monday.
The strong winds are blowing what amount snow is falling across the area and data expects the snow to build up overnight into Monday morning. Wind chills across the area continue to fall below zero.
One main band of snow is moving through the Tulsa area, bringing frigid temperatures and blowing snow. Cities have worked to ensure warming centers are available for homeless populations, stranded motorists or anyone who might need one.
As of 8 p.m., EMSA said they had responded to 22 falls, 11 cold exposure calls and one carbon monoxide call during the day throughout the Tulsa, Bixby, Jenks and Sand Springs area. Of the 22 falls, 15 people were transported to the hospital and five people were transported to the hospital after exposure to the cold.

Road conditions across the area have been passable, with crews responding to a small number of accidents. Eastbound lanes on the Turner Turnpike are back open by 9 p.m. after a multivehicle collision where two semi-trucks caught on fire near Luther Sunday afternoon. Westbound lanes are still closed and traffic is being diverted to the Kickapoo Turnpike. Officials said the collision involved two semis and two other vehicles. No word yet on any injuries.
Winter Weather Causes Accidents Involving Multiple Semi Trucks On Turner Turnpike
As of 9 p.m. Sunday, AAA Oklahoma has received 413 calls from drivers needing help. They said they have been able to get to and help 371 of those people, but said the conditions are making their response times longer than usual.
As snow comes down, crews will first address highways and major roads, leaving neighborhood streets at the mercy of the weather. News On 6’s Emory Bryan drove around monitoring Tulsa streets and gave us a live look near 81st and Sheridan at conditions around 4 p.m. Sunday.

News On 6’s Reagan Ledbetter has a live look at the road conditions in Bartlesville. As of 10 p.m., Bartlesville Police said they had not responded to any accidents on Sunday.
McAlester
News On 6’s Sawyer Buccy has a live look at the road conditions in McAlester. McAlester Police said they have not worked any major accidents Sunday. They said they have had to pull a couple vehicles out of ditches, but everyone involved was OK. The large snow buildup is in the residential areas.
Muskogee
News On 6’s Jordan Tidwell has been in Muskogee Sunday and says the snowfall has been light, but consistent. The wind is strong and is moving that consistent snowfall across the roadways.
Winter Weather Causes Power Outages In Northeast Oklahoma
As of 10 p.m., power outages across Green Country are slim, roughly 50 customers in Broken Arrow, 120 near 169 and Mingo, and 32 in Turley. The power grid operator for the region urges residents and businesses to do what they can to conserve energy.
