Some National Guard members were deployed across Oklahoma to help state troopers rescue stranded drivers if needed.
National Guard Members said their vehicles are larger, so they can hold a lot more people and supplies when they go on their rescue missions, but they're just happy to help in any way they can.
11 National Guard Members from the 21-20th engineer company spent the day helping OHP troopers respond to different calls along the Turner Turnpike.
Along with their larger vehicles, they have shovels and other equipment to help stranded drivers.
Sunday, Guard Members went along on a mission with OHP troopers to assist with a semi crash near Luther. Troopers had to shut down the highway for several hours in both directions and divert traffic off the turnpike.
National Guard members said they volunteered to help with this mission and said their main goal is to get Oklahomans to safety.
