A Pawnee County man is left empty-handed after he said thieves took hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of classic cars and bicycles.
Bob Underwood said it took him 30 years to put together his collection of bikes and cars.
His hope was to eventually sell or restore them. But now that hope - just like his items - are gone, and he doesn't know if he'll ever.
"I mean this stuff was junk to most people, but it was priceless to me," Underwood said.
Bob Underwood said he was out of town for an anniversary trip for several weeks but came back early because his wife got sick. When he went to check on his farm, he said his heart sank when he saw the cars and bikes gone, and the sheds reduced to a jumbled mess.
"This was the first real indication that there was a bad problem," Underwood said.
Four classic Mustangs, one 1968 Nova, one 1971 Dodge pickup and dozens of antique bicycles were stolen. He said it amounted to about $250,000 worth of items.
With just a population of about 3,000 in Cleveland, he hopes someone in the community will spot something that could lead to his items getting returned.
"I mean this much stuff took several trips. I mean this wasn't done in one day," Underwood said.
Underwood also said he appreciates the kind words from the people who've contacted him, but admits it's been hard keeping his head up.
"It's real overwhelming. I mean life's been really hectic so far and then to come find all this happened, it's kind of tough," Underwood said.
Two arrests have been made on this case, but Pawnee County investigators said they still haven't found any of the stolen items.
