Loved Ones Host Fundraiser To Support Family Of Sand Springs Father Killed In Crash

Allan Simpson died after suffering massive injuries during a motorcycle crash in July. This weekend, family and friends are honoring him with a poker run.

SAND SPRINGS, Oklahoma -

The family of a man killed last month in a motorcycle crash is holding a fundraiser this weekend to support his fiance and little girl.

Allan's Simpson's fiancée said the event will also serve as a celebration of his life. Simpson lived for a few days after the wreck.

His fiancé, Mariah Meschkat, said it's been the hardest few weeks of her life and she hopes to see a huge turnout this weekend in Sand Springs.

Meschkat & Simpson were riding on a motorcycle during the Fourth of July weekend when he lost control as they were exiting Highway 412. They couple hit the grass and crashed.

Meschkat had road rash and a broken elbow, but Simpson had a skull fracture and brain bleeding and died after being in the ICU for several days.

"If he was here now, he wouldn't be living any type of quality life," Meschkat said.

Meschkat said Simpson was laid back, but had a goofy side to him, and their two-year-old daughter Jentri was his whole world.

"He was amazing," she said. "He had a heart of gold, the love he had for his baby girl was insane."

"I miss him dearly," said Simpson's best friend Thomas Jeffers. "We had had a special bond."

Jeffers said losing Simpson was a shock and has been overwhelming for those who loved him. He said during Simpson's funeral, hundreds of people were there to ride in his honor.

"We got a huge family and support system and friends," said Jeffers.

This weekend, they're hosting a poker run in Sand Springs with proceeds going to Meschkat and little Jentri. They're hoping for a huge turnout.

"Cars, trucks, scooters, Harleys, bring your moped," Jeffers said. "We don't care."

"I would love to see all the coolest bikes around," Meschkat said.

"I had no idea there were so many people that cared the way they do," said Mariah. "It's been overwhelming."

The Poker run starts at 11 a.m. Saturday in Sand Springs. You can sign up on Saturday.
