A 12-year-old Tulsa boy said he's devastated after someone stole his new Go Kart. He said it was a custom fit and built just for him. He was looking forward to hitting the track.
Brendan Wolfe just got the Go Kart for Christmas and was ready to get started racing, but now he can't. He just wants the person to give it back.
"What got me into Go Kart racing was F1, particularly Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, my favorite drivers," he said.
He was so excited to hit the racetrack with his dad. That's what they were planning on doing after they stopped by a car show last Saturday, but when they walked outside, they were shocked.
"It was gone, just no where to be seen, gone, completely," Brendan said.
Brendan's dad, Jeff, said they were able to get dash cam footage from someone nearby that shows a truck driving past, with what looks like Brendan's go kart in the bed of the truck.
"My first reaction was 'Oh my gosh, I've got to go run and shout and get everybody's attention' and then behind me, with him, crying and in tears," Jeff said.
Jeff said he's never seen his son that upset, but they are hopeful they'll get it back and try to remain positive. He said losing the Go Kart is one thing, but they're also bummed at all they're missing out on.
"It's the memories that we were going to make, that we can't make anymore, or make yet," Jeff said.
For Brendan, he's just hoping he gets his Go Kart back soon so he can get out on the track for the upcoming season.
"Why would you crush a little kids dream, and why would you steal a Go Kart in the first place," Brendan said.
They did file a police report. If you have any information, you can call CrimeStoppers at 918-596-COPS.
Friends of Brendan and Jeff have started a Go Fund Me to help raise money for a new Go Kart. Click here to donate.
