Suspect Arrested Following Stolen Vehicle Pursuit In Newcastle

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a man was taken into custody following a pursuit of a stolen vehicle Monday morning in Newcastle.

Troopers said the incident started in Anadarko where the suspect was trying to break into a shed and flee from Anadarko police.

The suspect broke into a random home, grabbed a set of car keys and took off in the car, according to troopers.

Troopers said the suspect had fired shots and was using his vehicle to try and ram into pursuing officers.

A trooper crashed and rolled in a cruiser while pursuing the suspect, according to OHP.

The pursuit ended near Highway 76 and North Council Avenue.

No injuries have been reported.

State Highway 37 has reopened after being closed for almost three hours.
