The Norman Police Department Criminal Investigations and Special Investigations have arrested two people in connection to a homicide that happened in 2018.
On Thursday, after a 14-month-long investigation, authorities arrested 27-year-old Desiree Sanchez.
Another individual, 35-year-old Octavio Sanchez, was charged and is in custody in another county on different charges.
On May 31, 2021, Norman police responded to a call of a reported body in the basement of a home near West Lindsey Street.
Officers said they found a decomposing body in a box wrapped in plastic.
The body was identified as a family member of the suspects, according to police.
Investigators found that the victim moved in with the suspects in January 2018.
Months later, other family members were looking for the victim after not hearing from her, according to police.
Investigators were able to determine that both suspects played a role in her death.
The Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the victim's death as a homicide.
Both suspects have been charged with first-degree murder and unauthorized removal of a dead body.
This is an ongoing investigation.
