The staff at Family and Children's Services are looking to rally more people for their "Adopt-A-Family" Christmas program.
With the holiday shopping season going on, many are focused on buying a perfect present for the someone special in their lives, but buying Christmas gifts, or a holiday meal is difficult for some families.
Jessica Hayes is trying to make holiday wishes come true for families in need through their Adopt-A-Family holiday assistance program.
"Most of our families that need help, this is the only help they're getting,” Hayes said. “They don't have the means to buy their own gifts for their own family or their own kids."
Through this program, people can help a family by donating things they needs or want to make their Christmas special.
"This is such a gift that we can give to these clients that may not get anything and especially with high prices with food and toys and things like that just anything helps, just to bring a little smile to their face,” Hayes said.
Adopt-A-Family helps over 1,500 people and Hayes says the community support means a lot.
It's really cool to see people sign up and willing to give and just really show up for their community and help a person in need,” Hayes said
For people interested in participating in the project, it’s not too late to sign up.
